I’ve been meaning to shoot swimwear for a long time. Especially after moving to Perth where you have one of the best coastlines of Australia.
But I wanted to do it a bit differently, like a fashion journey of all the different outfits you can wear on a warm summer day.
So I shared the idea with Tristan and Kirstie who were instantly onboard and I got to it. We decided to shoot in South Fremantle as I really liked the jetty there, and the results were just incredible!
Once we got the team together and I knew who the model was going to be, I started to plan the different looks taking into consideration her beautiful skin tone and features.
This was also a great opportunity to use local brands, which I love doing and I’m willing to practise even more in 2021, both as a consumer and as a stylist ( hello New Year’s resolutions!)
Gyre Swimwear is one of them. Her pieces are made with italian fabrics from recycled ocean waste, how amazing is that? Also Elena, the designer, is a beautiful mum of three who’s following her dream and I love that.
Brooke da Cruz is another stunning local brand and designer. She does luxury ready – to – wear clothes for the sustainably minded woman. Meeting Brooke was lovely, we chat about how Covid has affected her business and her plans for the next collection, so stay tuned! She also runs Cura Swim where she curates the top sustainable swimwear brands.
And thanks to the powerhouse that is Louella Thomas, my assistant for the shoot who made sure everything ran smoothly.
So now imagine lying on the beach on a beautiful summer day…wind in your hair, sand between your toes and the sound of the sea in the background…welcome to Elevated Swimwear.
